Highland fashion show highlights Bajura wool

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 7: Lamasim Hill in Porkhe Lek, Bajura, turned into an open-air fashion runway as models showcased garments made from local sheep wool at an event aimed at promoting tourism and supporting Himalayan farmers. Held nearly 3,000 metres above sea level beneath Badimalika, the event, titled ‘Threads of the Himalaya: Farm to Fashion,’ brought together local wool producers, designers, artists and models.

It aimed to connect Bajura’s sheep farmers with international markets and promote the Badimalika region as a tourism destination. The event was jointly organised by the Threads of the Himalaya Foundation and KASA, a Nepali fashion brand seeking to expand into international markets. A 55-member team travelled from Kathmandu to Bajura for the event.

BBC MasterChef Santosh Shah participated to showcase Nepali cuisine, while former Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Shraddha Shrestha also attended the event.
