CHENNAI In view of Deepavali, the 108 ambulance network is prepared to handle all types of emergencies. All ambulances across the State have been strategically positioned at identified hotspots to ensure that emergency care reaches the needy at the earliest. According to a press release, this proactive deployment will help in minimising the response time and thereby increasing the life-saved percentage.
The network, especially in metro cities, has clocked an average response time of less than seven minutes, and is focused on sustaining and further improving the same. The “EMRI GHS 108 Ambulance Services”, based on the previous year experiences, have taken precautionary measures with regard to deployment of ambulances in identified Deepavali hotspot areas, where more number of fire/ burns and assault cases are expected in the respective locations. Last year, the network received 26,000 calls requiring emergency services across Tamil Nadu during Deepavali.
The Emergency Response Centre for helplines 108, 104 and 102 are working with full strength under three shifts.
