MADURAI The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Thursday dispensed with the personal appearance of the Commissioner of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) Department T.G. Vinay after an assurance was given to the court that encroachments would be removed from the Kalyana Pasupatheeswarar Temple lands in Karur. Pursuant to an earlier court direction, Mr. Vinay appeared before a Division Bench of Justices P.
Velmurugan and K.K. Ramakrishnan. He filed a status report with regard to the steps to be taken in this regard. The court was hearing the contempt petition filed in 2024 by A.
Radhakrishnan of Salem. The petitioner alleged non-compliance of a 2022 court order, directing authorities concerned to issue proper notices to all the parties who were said to be in possession of the properties. On receipt of such notices, the parties were directed to file their objections, along with the available documents. The authorities were directed to consider them and pass appropriate orders on merit.
