THIRUVANANTHAPURAM The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic cargo handling volume of 444 metric tonnes (MT) in October, marking a 9.4% increase over its previous record of 406 MT, achieved in June 2026, with an additional 38 MT handled during the month. The growth highlights the increasing role of the Thiruvananthapuram airport in facilitating the movement of time-sensitive and essential commodities, connecting Keralam with major commercial centres across the country. Mobile phones emerged as one of the leading commodities contributing to the increased cargo volume, with shipments arriving in greater numbers from Delhi.
The trend is expected to continue, supported by growing demand and logistics movements, said the airport authorities. The airport has also witnessed a significant increase in the movement of optical lenses from Mumbai. A growth of over 145% has been posted in lens cargo movement.
Courier operations Courier and consolidated cargo operations have also gained momentum.
