TIRUCHI Tiruchi Corporation has warned of action, including removal of unauthorised digital banners and imposition of fines, against those putting them up in public places without requisite permission. At a meeting with printing press owners on Friday, Corporation Commissioner N. Ponmani said banners were being erected on footpaths, arterial roads and at road junctions without permission, inconveniencing pedestrians and posing safety risks to motorists.
Banners could be installed only at locations designated by the Corporation and with prior approval from the civic body and the police. Hence, printing press owners must ensure compliance with the prescribed regulations. As part of efforts to ease traffic congestion and prevent road accidents, the Corporation had removed more than 50 unauthorised banners from major junctions over the past week.
It would continue to monitor public places and take action against violations.
