Sale of organic produce begins at uzhavar sandhai in Thanjavur district

THANJAVUR Sale of organic agricultural produce at uzhavar sandhai outlets got under way in Thanjavur district on Saturday. Minister for Agriculture R. Vinoth inaugurated the sale at the uzhavar sandhai at Kumbakonam in the presence of Minister for Minorities Welfare A. M.

Shajahan and Collector R. Revathi. Mr. Vinoth said the organic products would be sold at the uzhavar sandhai in Thanjavur, Thirukattupalli, Papanasam, Kumbakonam, Pattukottai and Peravurani in the district.

A dozen shops had been allotted for the products at the outlet in Kumbakonam. Organic products, including traditional rice varieties, millets, pulses, vegetables, fruits, chillies, turmeric, honey, masala products, native chicken eggs and value added products, would be sold through the shops, he added.
