WARANGAL The National Institute of Technology - Warangal (NIT-W), on Thursday, signed a technology transfer agreement with MOHSoft Tech Private Limited to commercialise an indigenous ozone-based disinfection technology developed by researchers in its Department of Physics. The agreement aims to facilitate large-scale manufacturing and deployment of ozone-based disinfection systems for use in healthcare facilities, public institutions, food-processing units, public transport and industrial establishments.
According to the institute, the technology uses the oxidising properties of ozone to eliminate up to 99.9% of viruses, bacteria and other pathogens under specified operating conditions. Unlike conventional chemical disinfectants, ozone decomposes into oxygen after use, reducing concerns over chemical residues.
Under the agreement, MOHSoft Tech will have the rights to manufacture, scale up and market the technology in domestic and international markets.
