MADURAI In a move to ensure rapid response during Deepavali festival, the ‘108’ Emergency Management Services (EMS) has deployed its entire fleet of 1,353 ambulances across strategically identified hotspots throughout Tamil Nadu. The State government’s proactive initiative aims to minimise response times, maximise survival rates, and handle any emergency that arises during the celebrations.
Officials confirmed that response times in major metro cities have already been brought down to under seven minutes, with continuous monitoring in place to maintain and further refine this speed. Central to this year’s emergency preparedness is a dedicated network designed specifically for swift burn injury management.
A total of 132 government hospitals across all 38 districts are in full operational readiness. Under this blueprint, ‘108’ ambulances are stationed round the clock near 42 medical college hospitals, 37 district headquarter hospitals, and 53 taluk hospitals, working in direct communication with designated hospital nodal officers.
