Belagavi “Thoughtful urban planning is vital for sustainable development of cities,” Commissioner, Urban Development, Shakeel Ahmed said in Belagavi on November 4. “We need to realise the importance of thoughtful urban planning, sustainable development and collaborative efforts in shaping the city’s future,” he told the gathering after inaugurating the three-day DULT Monsoon Design Studio 2026 at Karnatak Law Society’s Gogte Institute of Technology in Belagavi. Mr.

Ahmed shared valuable insights into urban development initiatives and emerging urban challenges in Belagavi. He cited examples from every day problems faced by residents and the solutions attempted by officers of various urban development agencies. The three-day event was organised by the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) in association with KNMTA (Karnataka Non-Motorised Transport Agency) and in collaboration with The Department of Architecture, KLS GIT.
