KOLKATA: Former India Test opener Prithvi Shaw continues to hope for a recall to the National side without worrying too much about it. Shaw, who scored his second half-century (53 not out) of the season while captaining Maharashtra to an outright win over Bengal in the Ranji Trophy at the Eden Gardens here on Thursday, sounded positive about his form and future “It’s (the ambition of returning to the Indian team) always there in the back of the mind. Obviously, hard work is going to help. But, with the experience I have, I should not think too far ahead.
I think about the present. I want to just keep winning matches, have good training and eat well,” said Shaw, who would celebrate his 27th birthday on November 9. “Some innings will be bad, some will be good. I don’t take tension.
My batting is good, nothing is going wrong,” added Shaw, who last played a Test in 2020 and last donned India colours in 2021. The Mumbaikar said he had been enjoying his stint with the neighbouring Maharashtra team. “It’s a good phase. Mumbai and Pune are not too far.
