Sudurpaschim Royals move to second in NPL

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Nov. 7: Sudurpaschim Royals climbed to second place in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 3 standings following a 39-run victory over Karnali Yaks at the TU Cricket Ground on Friday. With the win, Sudurpaschim accumulated six points from five matches, moving within a point of leaders and defending champions Lumbini Lions.

Karnali remain on four points from four matches. Put in to bat first, the Royals posted 176 for six in their 20 overs. The two-time finalists then restricted Karnali to 137 for seven.

South African batsman David Miller top-scored for Karnali with an unbeaten 93 off 55 balls, featuring five boundary fours and seven sixes. However, his efforts proved insufficient as Deepak Dumre—who made 18 off 12 balls with three fours and a six—was the only other batsman to reach double figures. For Sudurpaschim, Scott Kuggeleijn took two wickets, while Hemant Dhami, Anil Kharel, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Abinash Bohara claimed a wicket apiece.
