Bharathiar University issues notifications for filling key posts with regular candidates

COIMBATORE After a gap of about four years, Bharathiar University (BU) has issued notifications for filling key posts with regular candidates. The BU has invited applications for the posts of Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education; Additional Controller of Examination; Dean - College Development Council; NSS Programme Coordinator; and Public Relations Officer. Notably, the regular post of Registrar was filled only in August 2025.

The university, however, has not had a regular Vice-Chancellor after the term of the last regular V-C, P. Kaliraj, ended in October, 2022. Academics have been flagging gaps in administration for long, citing the incompleteness of the Syndicate.

Secretary of Higher Education Dheeraj Kumar, the ex-officio member of Syndicate, is the Convenor of the three member V-C Committee, in which the two other posts are vacant. Several Syndicate Member posts have remained vacant for years.
