For every parent, Halloween is one of the sweetest moments of the year. Dressing up their children in costumes, watching them go trick-or-treating and distributing candies to little visitors at the door, the festival brings back memories of their own childhood. For a moment, it seems to narrow the generation gap, allowing parents to relive the excitement of being a child through their little ones. But for one family in Atlanta, Halloween was going to be very different. The year was 2020.

There was nothing but a board outside that read: "Sorry, no candy. Child with cancer.
