Ann Giurdanella spent much of her life building a New York real estate business alongside her husband, Robert. Married for 64 years, the couple acquired, rehabilitated and operated 14 East Village buildings that became the core of a family property enterprise valued at more than $45 million, according to a 2026 decision by the New York Appellate Division, First Department.
After Robert died in December 2021, Ann alleged that she was pressured into signing estate documents while medicated and later learned she had missed the deadline to claim her statutory share of his estate, reported The New York Post and Justia U.S. Law.
In October 2026, the appellate court reversed a lower-court ruling that had dismissed her case as untimely. The court did not decide that Ann will ultimately receive the inheritance she seeks, but it reinstated her petition and sent the matter back to the Surrogate’s Court for a hearing.
